Tema East MP Pledges To Improve Quality Of Life Of Constituents With Disabilities

The Member of Parliament for the Tema East Constituency, Hon. Isaac Ashai Odamtten has pledged to do his best to ensure that the quality of life of persons with disabilities in his constituency is improved.

He said it was his priority to initiate the necessary interventions that would positively affect the lives of persons with disabilities.

To achieve this goal, the Member of Parliament promised to create a disability desk at his office, which would spearhead initiatives and activities that would benefit persons with disabilities.

He disclosed that a member of his team had already volunteered to man the disability desk.

The officer will be responsible for facilitating regular interactions between the disability community and the MP to enable him to know their needs at every point in time; the officer will also ensure that his constituents with disabilities get their fair share of the District Assembly Common Fund, among other things.

Hon. Isaac Ashai Odamtten made the comment in Tema Community 1 on Saturday, March 11, 2023, when organised a health screening exercise and also renewed the National Health Insurance for over 170 persons with disabilities, their children, as well as their caregivers.

The beneficiaries went through eye and dental screening.

They were also screened for HIV, COVID-19 and other conditions; and were given free medication.

The Member of Parliament promised to bear the full cost of treatment for those of them diagnosed with serious conditions.

The screening was organised in collaboration with the Tema East branch of the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) and supported by an NGO, Gospel Kids International.
