The Akropong School for the blind in the Akuapem North Municipality in the Eastern Region has received computers and machines worth GH¢40,000 from the Asona Abusua U.K, a Ghanaian Society in the United Kingdom (UK).
The items were one machine reader, three laptops, one portable machine reader and two jaws software computers.
Handing over the items to the school at Akropong-Akuapem, the President of the group, Nana Owusu Agyekum, said the relationship that existed between the school and the group would be strengthened to enable them to satisfy some of the pressing needs of the school.
According to Nana Owusu Agyekum, the headmistress of the school sent the group the list of items the school needed for its Information Communication Technology (ICT) lessons.
He said the group was able to provide the most important items on the list.
Annual event
He indicated the group had the children of the school at heart because of their predicament, adding that the presentation was the fifth in a series of donations.
“It has become more or less an annual event,” the president of the group said while assuring the school that Asona Abusua UK had consulted another Ghanaian group in the UK that was willing to assist the school and it was hoped that help would be received before the end of the year.
Continued support
The Headmistress of the school, Ms Mahela Narh, thanked the group for their continued support for the school.
She said furniture donated by the group two years ago had been of great help to the school.
The head prefect, Master Lord Opoku Sarkodie, who received the items on behalf of the school, said the students would support the Asona Abusua U.K. with their prayers so that the group would continue to help them.
He also pledged that the leadership of the student body would assist the school administration to take good care of the items so they would last long.
