The Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation, an organisation spearheading the interests of disabled and physically challenged persons in society, has initiated a project to raise at least 1000 wheelchairs.
The project, instituted to commemorate the International Wheelchair Day, on March 1, hopes to procure 1000 wheelchairs to be distributed to “people who have injuries to their legs, spine, suffer from muscular dystrophy, paralysis of their lower limbs, cerebral palsy, elephantiasis stroke”
A statement signed by Afisa Otiko Djaba, Executive Director of the Memorial Foundation, advanced that provision of wheelchairs to those who need it will restore their dignity and self-worth while facilitating their means of movement.
She entreated the public to support the course and contribute to help them achieve the minimum target set.
Otiko Djaba noted, “It is so depressing to watch our brothers and sisters who are physically challenged walking with their hands and knees or crawling to get from one point to the other. Over 75 million people need wheelchairs.”
“The wheelchair gives them freedom to move, dignity and the opportunity to enjoy a more fulfilling life.
To raise more awareness on the need and usage of wheelchairs, the Henry Djaba Foundation is using this occasion to initiate a Campaign for 1000 wheelchairs to donate to those who cannot afford to buy one but need it.
Join us to make a difference by donating a wheelchair or donate funds to buy a wheelchair for someone who needs it. Call on our office line 0241235199 for details or donate to our Momo Account no. 0248510067.

On
International Wheelchair Day
Imagine the daily struggles, limitations and frustrations of getting around without the ability to walk? As we drive or walk past someone who is not able to walk with their legs but is not in a wheelchair, do we stop to think that, it could be us, in that condition? We at the Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation join Steve Wilkinson, the founder of this special day, and the world to celebrate the tremendous impact that wheelchairs have had on the lives of the physically challenged. Today, 1st March 2020 the Henry Djaba Foundation wishes to draw our attention to the International Wheelchair Day.
It is so depressing to watch our brothers and sisters who are physically challenged walking with their hands and knees or crawling to get from one point to the other. Over 75 million people need wheelchairs.
People who have injuries to their legs, spine, suffer from muscular dystrophy, paralysis of their lower limbs, cerebral palsy, elephantiasis stroke require the use of a wheelchair for moving around.
The wheelchair gives them freedom to move, dignity and the opportunity to enjoy a more fulfilling life.
