Klicks Africa Foundation, an NGO that runs an early intervention school for children with Autism and other developmental needs in Accra, has received a team of students and faculty from Oslo Metropolitan University of Norway to begin a 13-week practicum in Social Education.
The team arrived at the centre on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, for a week-long pre-practicum orientation to facilitate their practicum at the school.
The Social Education students will work closely with therapists and facilitators of the centre to fulfil the required credits for their coursework.
Also beginning their 8-week-long fieldwork at Klicks Africa Foundation are Social Work students from the Department of Social Work of the University of Ghana.
Klicks Africa Foundation has a long-standing tradition of hosting university students for their fieldwork/practicum.
Klicks Africa Foundation is a parent initiative that seeks to support parents, care givers and teachers, with training in learning the necessary skills needed to face the challenges of raising their children with Autism.
It runs an intensive Vocational Training and Resource Center for youths with special needs, to impact them with Self-help skills, guidance in building up their social skills as well as emotional support to them and their families.
It also produces teaching and learning materials from locally available resources to support inclusive education.
It aims to strengthen families and influence communities, by creating an inclusive environment for adults with Autism and other Intellectual disabilities.
