A non-governmental organisation, Here for Perfection (H4P), has for thirteen years stood tall as a beacon of empowerment, while championing the belief that everyone deserves equal rights, freedoms, and opportunities to realize their fullest potential.
With a mandate to bring dignity to disability, the H4P Organization under the able leadership of its CEO, Bishop Dr. Charles Cofie Hackman, has embarked on various projects and initiatives for more than a decade that has thrown the spotlight on the abilities of PWDs.
Their latest feat is the prestigious C.H.I.L Awards.
The Christina Hackman Impact Leadership Awards (C.H.I.L. Awards) is an award scheme named after the late mother of the Chief Executive Officer of the H4P organization, Mrs Christina Anansiwa Hackman for her meritorious and impactful service to humanity, especially, persons with disability (PWDs).
Mrs Christina Anansiwa Hackman was known and revered for her passion, interest and impact on the welfare of others, especially that of the disability community in Ghana.
The maiden edition of the prestigious Christina Hackman Impact Leadership Awards and Dinner night for Persons with Disability and stakeholders of the Disability Community took place on Saturday, 16th March, 2024 at the Labadi Beach Hotel.
The H4P Organization awarded deserving PWDs who have contributed significantly towards the development of the disability community and national development in Sports and Entertainment, Education and Entrepreneurship.
The prestigious C.H.I.L Awards was established to acknowledge and honour significant contributions towards the development of the disability community and national development, as a whole, encourage impactful leadership, especially among the youth with disability and encourage participation and functionality in the disability organizations and associations.
Hon. Abdulhakim Ware Shehe – Legislator, Tana County Assembly, (Member of County Assembly, Tana River), of the Republic of Kenya was the Special Guest of Honour for the event.
Other special guests included Hon. Said Kuri Godana, a member of County Assembly of Tana River, MCA, Republic of Kenya, Ambassador Mrs. Hannah Ama Nyarko, Hon. John Majisi – Former Member of Parliament, Krachie Nchumuru, Eng. Dr. Mrs. Millicent Agangiba – Head of Department, Information Technology, University of Professional Studies, Mrs. Serwah Quaynor – Founder and Executive Director of Autism Awareness Care and Training Centre, Executive Director of Inclusive Tech Group, Nana Adutwumwa I – Tufuhemaa of Otublohum and representatives from National Council on Persons with Disabilities and Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations.
The winner of the C.H.I.L award in the Education category was Mr. Daniel Oppong.
Mr. Daniel Oppong is visually impaired and has been in the Ghana Education Service for the past 22 years. He is currently the Chairperson for the Prep and Sports Committee at the Akropong School for the Blind.
Mr. Alexander Kojo Tetteh emerged the winner in the Entrepreneurship Category. He is a holder of MPhil in Disability Development and Rehabilitation from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
With a wealth of experience, Mr. Tetteh has served for 6 years as the National Administrator for the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled and 4 years for the Centre of Employment for Persons with Disabilities.
Presently, he holds the position of the Executive President.
In the Sports & Entertainment category, Mr. Elvis Kosi Alipui emerged the winner. He is a para sports coach, advisor, influencer, developer, official and advocate. He is known as the ‘genesis’ and ‘revelation’ of disability sports since the 90s.
The winners received a CHIL Plaque, CHIL Certificate, CHIL Medal of Honour, a cash prize, an exclusive interview with Bishop Dr. Charles Cofie Hackman, the H4P CEO and Host of the Helping Hand TV Show and a year of free publicity of any project the winner would embark on.
Hon. Abdulhakim Ware Shehe and Hon. Said Kuri Godana were also decorated with the Special CHIL Honorary Award for their contribution to disability advocacy in the Republic of Kenya.
The official launch of the CHIL Awards took place on Saturday, 4th February, 2023, during the 2023 edition of the H4P-Ability Praise Concert (APC).
During the launch, the H4P Organization awarded the CHIL Honorary Award to Madam Emma Lilian Bruce-Lyle for her outstanding contributions towards the development of the Disability Community in Ghana for over two (2) decades.
